5. Bash At The Beach 2000

We could have filled this entire list with incidents from WCW in the year 2000. This was the year in which the doomed company passed the point of no return, thanks in no small part to moments like this. 

Here's how Bash at the Beach 2000 was supposed to go. Hulk Hogan would beat Jeff Jarrett for the WCW Championship in a worked shoot designed to get people talking. Head writer Vince Russo would then come out and set the record straight, booking a new match between Jarrett and Booker T for the main event. Alas, this unnecessarily complicated and ill-conceived idea didn't work. Who could have possibly seen that coming...

During his in-ring promo, Russo said a lot of things about Hogan that he didn't like. The Hulkster never appeared in WCW again, and even filed a defamation of character lawsuit against the man from Long Island, New York. 

This incident is the epitome of Russo's negative traits as a booker. His obsession with fooling internet fans and not cluing people into his plans came back to haunt him on multiple occasions, none more so than this train-wreck of a storyline.
