10 Biggest Wrestling Scandals Of The 2010s
8. Mocking Paul Bearer
It's not hyperbole to say that, without William Moody, there would be no Undertaker. Moody, who is best known to wrestling fans as the ghoulish Paul Bearer, was a key part of The Phenom's act during his early days. The two would be intertwined for the remainder of their careers; sometimes for the better; sometimes not.
This partnership ended when Bearer sadly died in 2013. He was just 58 years old and the wrestling world came together to celebrate his life and work. Shockingly, his most famous employer took the chance to turn his death into an angle.
Bearer died a month prior to WrestleMania 29, where his most famous client would be battling CM Punk. During a tribute segment on Raw, Punk attacked Taker and poured what was supposed to be Bearer's ashes all over his foe.
Real-life deaths have been incorporated in storylines before, but this was taken by everyone to be too far, too soon. WWE were slammed for turning a recent death into cheap heat. Taker would win the feud and honour Bearer at Mania, but there were better ways to get to this conclusion.
