10 Controversial Cases Of The WWE Censoring Fans

5. Raw Is Generico

In addition to the confiscation of signs, the WWE has resorted to more extreme measures on certain occasions. Back in the spring of 2013, a fan had his €œRaw is Generico€ sign taken away and was also told to move from his ringside seat €œto the opposite side of the arena€. The reasoning was that €œthe people running the show, presumably WWE officials, didn€™t want him there.€ The sign was likely a nod towards Sami Zayn, known on the independent scene as El Generico and who was at the time signed to a developmental deal in Florida Championship Wrestling. This case is a little more severe, particularly as the fan was merely acknowledging the star€™s storied past. Again it€™s the WWE€™s way of distancing themselves from any of their talent€™s previous achievements€”which is understandable from a business perspective but not so much from a fans€™ point of view. Furthermore, the fact that security insisted the fan move€”as well as having his sign confiscated€”seems rather unnecessary and only paints the WWE in an even less favourable light.
