10 Controversial Cases Of The WWE Censoring Fans

4. "Butt Clown"

Here we have another reason why you shouldn€™t poke fun at the WWE. Jason Powell, in his blog for Prowrestling.net, speaks of how two friends of his were the victims of both a confiscation and an ejection at a WWE event in 2008. Fresh after the switch to PG, his friends, Ben Loney and Jonathan Minks, gave their family-friendly interpretation of Chris Jericho€™s €œAss Clown€ catchphrase by parading a sign that read €œButt Clown€. What started out as a light-hearted rib turned into something more serious, when security asked Loney and Minks to stop holding up the sign as they were believed to be €œshowboating€. Ultimately the duo were ejected from the arena and banned from re-entering. Kicking the fans out for such an offence€”if you can use that word€”seems like far too extreme a punishment, particularly when the original sign wasn€™t even that inappropriate. There were no expletives involved, and it was more of an inside joke than anything. Perhaps there€™s something more to the story that we€™re not being told here, but if the pair were indeed removed for simply displaying a €œButt Clown€ sign, then it€™s difficult to support the WWE on this one.
