10. That MITB 2023 Promo Wasn’t WWE’s Plan
Recency bias! Seriously though, this is a neat starting point.
It's really difficult to imagine that anybody (even John Cena) would be allowed to go out there on live TV/pay-per-view and say something WWE doesn't know about. However, according to Triple H, Cena offering WrestleMania to the UK masses wasn't something people backstage knew about beforehand.
In other words, Cena didn't clear that idea with Trips or another member of upper management before going live in front of fans. Hunter claimed that John's promo was a minor headache for the promotion during the post-MITB presser too, because it'd put pressure on them to deliver ASAP.
Again, there must be more to this, but it's amazing to think that JC knew he could get away with anything during a live PLE. He was pretty much riffing off the cuff when talking 'Mania in London as...London went bananas in the stands, and expected WrestleMania 41 to be their own.
