10 Most Baffling Tag Teams In Wrestling History

By Jamie Kennedy /

9. The New Rockers

Let's get something out of the way quickly, the original version of The Rockers remains one of the best-loved tag-teams in WWF/WWE history. Both Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels were well-suited to the roles as brash young rockstars who were loving life and partying hard, they looked the part and their matches often featured double-team moves that had fans in raptures. Fast forward to the mid-90's, and the world had moved on somewhat. When Michaels and Jannetty were firing on all cylinders, it was the late-80's and early-90's, when bands like Van Halen and Motley Crue were all the rage. By 1996 however, grunge had long since come along and stole the crown, which makes it even more confusing that WWF bigwigs decided to team Jannetty with a young man known as 'Leif Cassidy'. Poor Al Snow, this won't be the last time he features on this list. It has been suspected that The New Rockers was a send-up, a parody if you will, and the tandem was designed to be heels. That would likely be giving the creative team of the mid-90's WWF too much credit however, it was simply awkward, and the geeky Cassidy - combined with the outdated Jannetty - made The New Rockers utterly stink.
