10 Most Cursed WWE Images Of 2020

WWE's Biggest Shames - Bad Matches, Dodgy Decisions & Poor Taste

By Josh Mills /

2020 was, as ever, a year of ups and downs for WWE, but in spite of all the chaos and uncertainty, they managed to pull off some pretty great matches and angles. The likes of Sasha Banks, Bayley, Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre managed to enjoy banner years despite performing without a crowd for over eight months.

Then there's the flipside. Those moments, perfectly encapsulated by a single image, that cause the WWE viewer to despair. Bad matches, dodgy decisions. Angles that recklessly step over the line of good taste. Feuds that just won’t die, and those goofy segments that someone (cough, Vince) evidently thinks are cool or funny, but cause mass eye-rolling in the rest of us.

These cursed images didn’t turn too many of us off the product, gluttons for punishment that they are, but it’s moments like these that make us reassess our relationship with sports entertainment - surely there are more productive ways we could spend our time?

This is our plea to WWE, then: take a look at this nonsense, and in 2021 please endeavour to do the exact opposite, and we’ll all be happy...

10. A Comeback We Didn't Need

At time of writing, the 54 year old Bill Goldberg is readying himself for another title shot against Drew McIntyre. Given the protection Drew has enjoyed, it’s probably safe to assume he won’t be forced to drop the strap to the middle aged former WCW star, but when you think about the dealings of last February’s dreadful Super Showdown PPV, it gives you pause.

After a solid build, Bray Wyatt was enjoying a new lease of life in his creepy Fiend guise. He was booked as an unstoppable, no selling monster, able to absorb curb stomps and weapon shots like they were nothing at all. Then, he ran into Goldberg. A few spears and a truly dreadful Jackhammer later and Bill was the champ no one wanted.

It gets worse when you read backstage chatter that Goldberg insisted going over in Saudi Arabia, and quickly lost interest in the belt, dropping it to Braun Stroman in a rubbish match at ‘Mania 36 (admittedly with his initial opponent, Roman Reigns, and a crowd, this would have been a lot better).

This image is everything wrong with WWE’s short term booking policies. No one enjoyed it, and it set The Fiend back significantly.
