10 Most Epic WWE Debuts Ever

3. AJ Styles (WWE Royal Rumble 2016)

Despite being heavily rumoured in the days and weeks leading up to the Royal Rumble, it was difficult for anyone to truly believe that AJ Styles would wrestle in WWE. Before carving out an impressive legacy in Japan, Styles was casually known to most fans as 'Mr. TNA', a star who was integral in taking Impact from its early days as an NWA-offshoot to WWE's closest American rival. As much as everyone wanted to see the 'Phenomenal One' performing for the biggest company in professional wrestling, most fans accepted one seeming inevitability: for Vince McMahon to put aside his perceived disdain for his competitor and sign one of their brightest stars, hell would have to freeze over.

The Devil must be getting pretty cold, because not only did AJ Styles wrestle in the 2016 Royal Rumble, he entered the match at Number Three to a deafening reception. Fans (and Roman Reigns) were confused as Styles's previously unheard entrance theme was piped into the Amway Center, but all became clear once the words 'I AM PHENOMENAL' appeared on the Titantron, heralding the arrival of one of the most talented performers in modern professional wrestling.
