10 Most Heart-Breaking WWE Moments Of The 2010s

5. The Final Paige

No matter how much you love the wrestling business, you can't deny that it isn't a cruel industry. Exhibit A: Paige.

Paige had been wrestling since she was 13-years-old and signed a WWE contract at just 19. She made waves in NXT, becoming the first ever NXT Women's Champion, before moving to the main roster, where she won the Divas Championship in her very first match.

Then it started to go wrong for Paige. She was suspended multiple times following violations of WWE's Wellness Policy (a controversial subject in itself) and underwent neck surgery in late 2017.

Paige would return to the WWE after over a year off-screen, heading up the new faction of Absolution alongside Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose. However, this return would last two months before an errant kick from Sasha Banks put her on the shelf again.

Sadly, Paige would not come back from this injury and announced her retirement from in-ring competition on the post-WrestleMania 34 episode of Raw, at just 25 years of age.

Paige had so much more to give as a performer and there was so much excitement surrounding her return with Rose and Deville. Sadly, the wrestling business often takes far more than it gives and Paige's time in the sun was cut tragically short by the business she loves so much.
