Something needs to change if Roman Reigns is to be accepted by wrestling fans as a whole, and the vitriol that has inevitably met his #4 ranking is proof of that. The former Shield enforcer has been pushed far too hard over the past year, drawing Cena-esque heat for his ill-fitting portrayal as a smiling, cool, badass babyface. Although his matches benefit from a certain dynamism and power, Reigns' bouts rarely rank up there with the efforts of fellow WWE main eventers such as Rollins or Lesnar. Cena, although similarly hated by a great swathe of the WWE, probably deserves his position at #2 for his consistently good displays throughout the year. Even by PWI's semi-kayfabe criteria, Reigns doesn't deserve such a lofty position at all. January's Royal Rumble win aside, his year has largely been a disappointment. He was decimated by Brock Lesnar in the WrestleMania main event (and had any chance of a comeback squashed by Seth Rollins' opportunistic cash-in), failed to deliver on his promise as the clear favourite to win the Money in the Bank ladder match, and has otherwise busied himself in a pair of largely uninteresting feuds with Big Show and the Wyatt Family.
