10 Things That Didn't Go The Way WWE Wanted
3. Giant González
Speaking of Giant González...
The 7'7" González first debuted at the 1993 Royal Rumble, eliminating The Undertaker despite not being an official participant in the match. This would set up a feud with 'Taker going into WrestleMania IX, which the Deadman won by disqualification after González suffocated him with a chloroform rag.
Yes, there's a reason why WWE doesn't talk about this match much when referring to The Undertaker's fabled WrestleMania Streak - aside from it being flat-out terrible, it's the only one of his 'Mania victories that was not decisive. The ending was clearly meant to keep González looking strong for their eventual rematch, but no one wanted more of the giant after this Grade-A dud of a contest.
González would go on to lose his feud with 'Taker at that year's SummerSlam and was gone from the company just months later. Now, imagine how badly one has to suck to be almost 8-feet tall in the especially-gimmicky early-'90s WWF and not even last a full calendar year. Not even the kayfabe-friendly audiences of that era could keep from laughing at his ridiculous airbrushed unitard.
That right there is a special kind of awful.
