10 Things To Expect From WWE Raw Tonight (Jan 18)

1. It'll Be Reigns' Last Raw As WWE Champion

Call me optimistic, but I don't think WWE will be blind enough to have Roman Reigns win a second successive Royal Rumble - even if losing the match will result in him dropping the title. Crowd reaction towards Roman has noticeably softened in recent weeks, but the Rumble will feature various workers more appealing to a smarky live crowd. Imagine the reaction if Roman were to triumph over Brock Lesnar, Kevin Owens, or a similarly beloved internet darling. As clear as WWE's bias towards Reigns is, tonight could well be his last Raw as WWE World Heavyweight Champion - at least for a couple of months. WrestleMania usually works best with a valiant babyface challenger chasing a heel champion, in order to maximise the climactic feeling of triumph. If our suspicions of WWE are correct, and he is being lined up as their next generation-defining 'guy', it would actually make more sense for Roman to drop the belt come Sunday. With that in mind, it would perhaps make sense for him to reign supreme at the close of tonight's show, giving the fleeting sense that he'll be able to pull something magical out of the bag at the Rumble.
