10 Things We Learned From Kurt Angle On Vince Russo's Podcast

Maybe we shouldn't expect to see Angle in WWE anytime soon after all.

Kurt Angle holds a unique place in the annals of professional wrestling. No other individual has followed a career path such as his, one that saw him win gold at the Olympic Games in 1996 and somehow manage to go on and top that in a most-illustrious career inside the squared circle.

Angle won all there was to win the WWF/E, battling all the biggest stars in the game along the way. He was in the main event of WrestleMania, and was pretty much guaranteed to produce quality wherever he was. Whether was going up against Shawn Michaels or Shawn Stasiak, you were getting something worth watching.

The Wrestling Machine then headed over to TNA, where he proceeded to conquer all before him once more. His time in TNA saw that company hit never before seen heights, and he stayed loyal as the wheels began to fall off. Here he had memorable matches with a whole host of opponents, including Samoa Joe, AJ Styles and Desmond Wolfe (Nigel McGuinness).

Angle has had a whole host of injuries and personal problems along the way, but these seem to be past him now. He was recently a guest on Vince Russo's 'The Swerve' interview show, and the two-parter saw the former colleagues cover a lot of ground on a lot of subjects.

Here's what we gleamed from Kurt Angle on Vince Russo's podcast.

10. Kurt Has Been Clean For Three Years

Kurt Angle has had many run-ins with the law over the years, and his issues with alcohol are fairly well-documented. Angle has been arrested for driving under the influence on a number of occasions, the first of which came back in 2007 and the most recent in 2013.

On a number of occasions during the podcast, Angle reveals that he has been clean and sober for almost three years now. His final arrest saw him immediately check into a rehabilitation centre, and it's good to hear that things have been clean for Angle ever since.

Angle also reveals that he took medication for years to deal with his ongoing neck issues, a need that got so bad that he eventually started taking them just to feel normal. Since he's been clean Angle states that working without them is hard, but if someone feels they need them to perform then it might be best to hang up the boots.
