10 Things Wrestling Fans Fully Expected To Happen In 2020 (That Still Haven't)
3. Jericho Vs. Tyson
Mike Tyson's AEW appearances feel like they happened in a different lifetime. After awarding the newly-established but not-quite-finished TNT Championship to Cody at Double or Nothing, Tyson appeared on AEW and was confronted by none other than Le Champion himself, Chris Jericho. The two went nose to nose as a brawl broke out between their respective entourages, as AEW tried to recreate the famous Tyson/Stone Cold confrontation from all those years ago.
AEW looked ready to go a step further than WWE did, by booking Tyson in a match against one of its biggest stars. Tyson vs. Jericho seemed to be a case of 'when' and not 'if'. Six months on, the entire thing seems to have fizzled out.
Jericho himself has noted since that the idea was to do the match at All Out in September, but all parties involved simply ran out of time to get it done. Tyson's return to the boxing ring may well have scuppered a match that seemed inevitable. Will the feud be reprised in 2021? Time will tell, but it wouldn't be a great surprise to see Tyson knock Jericho out at some point over the next 12 months.
