10 Times "Best For Business" WWE Decisions Sucked
7. Eddie & Benoit's Short-Lived Title Reigns
Some observers suggested that the decisions to put the two world title belts on wrestling purists Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit in 2004 was WWE throwing some scraps to its hardcore fans.
In the end, that was all they got: scraps. Despite the confetti celebrations at WrestleMania XX, neither Eddie nor Benoit ever stepped into the role of the company's franchise player - perhaps because Vince McMahon, rightly or wrongly, wasn't sold on their marketing potential.
Latino Heat's reign was cut short against JBL at The Great American Bash, in only his third pay-per-view defence (two of which were against the 'Wrestling God').
Benoit's, meanwhile, lasted until SummerSlam, although much of it was spent in a nothing feud with Kane, with Triple H and Shawn Michaels headlining Bad Blood in a non-title bout.
