10 Times WWE Did Something You Never Thought Possible

7. Stripped Shinsuke Nakamura Of His Coolness

That's right: not everything on this list is a glowing endorsement for the land of Sports Entertainment.

WWE has brought in major Japanese signings and stripped them of their unique charm so many times they've got it down to a science. Kushida, KENTA and Akira Tozawa are all big examples of this, but Shinsuke Nakamura takes the crown.

When Nakamura jumped ship from NJPW to WWE, fans thought to themselves, "even if they don't push him - which seems incredibly likely - at least we will still enjoy the cool as hell Nakamura we love in WWE". Well, it's been over six years since The King Of Strong Style debuted, and that mystique is gone.

Nowadays, he's mostly a character rolled out to deliver lacklustre feuds and a supporting act for Rick Boogs with his goofy mannerisms going from cool to, well, goofy. His erratic and explosive energy made him feel like a Rockstar in NJPW, but WWE has turned him into a muted, quirky act, thanks to his lack of decisive wins and credibility.

Seeing Nakamura challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal title would have been mind-blowing only a few years ago, but now, thanks to WWE's efforts, it has gone off like a wet firecracker. Something that once seemed impossible.
