Is it not happening already anyway?

After just over a month, Bray Wyatt's new direction has got more than a whiff of the old one about it - he's all but promising a dark and terrifying future for his colleagues, there's more to the out-front aesthetic than meets the eye, and the scariest monster of all lurks behind a rubber mask in both a literal and metaphorical manifestation.

"Uncle Howdy" (and WWE's "White Rabbit Project" in general) could and should be toasted as a significant success story for Triple H's team as a relaunch event. But the jury's out on its effectiveness as a longstanding project, not least when this felt as much like a last chance as a second one for Wyatt.

His 2021 release scanned as shocking because of merchandise money and hardcore fan loyalty WWE were flushing, not because The Fiend was having the best matches of the year or elevating his opponents. It's tough to imagine that changing much over the next half-decade, but if there's fresh dollars to be made from a fresh Fiend title belt, Bray's putting the blue mask down and picking the white one back up.
