The whole basis of Sting's vigilante-style character was that he was directly opposed to the nWo faction. Of course, that all changed over time, as WCW split the stable into 2 distinct groups. On one side, Hulk Hogan led the nWo 'Black And White', or nWo 'Hollywood'. On the other, Kevin Nash was the leader of the nWo 'Wolfpac. An angle was started which revolved around which side Sting would choose to be part of. In early-June, fans were handed an answer. On Nitro, Sting descended from the rafters in typical fashion. Entering the ring, he took off his trench coat to reveal an nWo Hollywood t-shirt. Hogan and The Giant were pleased, but it was all a ruse. Later, Sting tore off that shirt, showing he was wearing a Wolfpac one. This was the problem with the nWo saga, everybody was swallowed up in amongst it. Even Sting, who was supposed to be WCW through and through, eventually became a member. Thankfully, at least the reveal was memorable. Fans erupted for the idea of Sting being part of the nWo Wolfpac, aligning with Kevin Nash and Lex Luger. It was a crazy moment, but a short-sighted one creatively.
