Orton's reign might have been bad, but at least it didn't feature one of the worst WrestleMania main events of all time.

After WWE Champion Edge was shockingly pinned first during his match at No Way Out 2009, it was anyone's guess who would win the belt. After surviving the Elimination Chamber, it was Triple H who reigned supreme.

This was all done to set up a feud with Royal Rumble winner Randy Orton for WrestleMania XXV. The 'teacher vs. student' narrative was there for the taking and it looked like WWE couldn't miss. Instead, they made the rivalry about home invasions, familial assault, and Randy kissing Stephanie McMahon while she was unconscious.

The Game and The Viper were doomed as soon as they had to follow Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker. Their bland, uninspired main event ended the show on a major bum note. Trips then lost the title to Orton in the aforementioned BS six-man tag.

In case you were keeping score, that's six of the nine WWE Championship reigns that began in 2009 to have made this list. Make of that what you will.
