10 Wrestlers Who Ruined Their Own Careers

5. CM Punk

Even though the man himself claims he'd never want to return, CM Punk has burned substantial bridges since leaving WWE, and it seems unlikely that the company would ever treat him the same were he ever to make a comeback. Clearly an independent, opinionated man, Punk has irked everyone from Vince McMahon to Triple H. A lot of Punk's frustrations seem to stem from the fact he was never given the opportunity to headline WrestleMania, and was never truly perceived as the man in WWE. When facing the likes of John Cena and The Rock, Punk was usually written as the brash underdog, someone who represented the voice of the fans against the status quo in the organisation. Unfortunately, CM Punk derailed things by taking himself out of the picture shortly after the 2014 Royal Rumble, literally informing McMahon that he was simply going home for a while. Having been unhappy for quite some time, Punk was placated somewhat by a bumper new contract, his own private bus, and more money in 2011, but even that wasn't enough to satisfy him in the long run.
