10 Wrestlers Who Should Be Future WWE World Champions

By Scott Carlson /

1. Roman Reigns

Odds: 1-3 It€™s not a question of €œif€ Roman Reigns becomes a world champion, it€™s a question of €œwhen.€ The former powerhouse of the Shield already was penciled in to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XXXI this year before a last-minute swerve. He won the 2015 Royal Rumble and was a favorite to capture the Money in the Bank briefcase earlier this summer. If there ever was a guy to bet on, it€™s Roman. The real question to ask about Reigns as world champ is how successful he will be as the title holder. If he continues on his current trajectory, he could be a flop. Roman had been stuck in a weird limbo with Bray Wyatt the last few months, and his clear shot at becoming champion at Survivor Series has now been cast in doubt due to Seth Rollins' injury. To be successful as a champ, Roman might have to undergo a change in character. It might not require a full-on heel turn, but something is going to have to shift. He€™s a talented guy who is improving on the mic €“ just don€™t send him out there for 20-minute promos. Reigns clearly has WWE€™s backing as a future top guy, so it€™s more about how he gets there now than it is about whether he gets there.
