Most older wrestling fans will remember Gary Michael Cappetta as a ring announcer in World Championship Wrestling. What a lot of folks won't know is that the man also worked for the WWF for years before coming to prominence in Atlanta. From 1974-1985, Cappetta was the ring announcer called upon for live events in the New Jersey area. Gorilla Monsoon was the one who gave him the gig. In 1985, Cappetta was informed that he was no longer needed. From there, he ended up working in the AWA, before eventually settling in WCW. Shortly after leaving the WWF, the ring announcer started to notice that his voice was still being used for various tapes, including voice overs he'd previously recorded for a Hulk Hogan workout VHS tape. Cappetta hadn't signed a release enabling the promotion to use his image and voice, so he decided to take the WWF to court over the matter. That obviously didn't sit well with Vince McMahon, who was furious over being taken to task by a lowly ring announcer. On the day he decided to pursue legal action, Cappetta effectively burned his bridges with WWE.
