8. James Ellsworth

"You're a pretty weird looking guy, do you know that?".

Chris Jericho once looked little James Ellsworth dead in the eye and said exactly that during an episode of Raw in 2016. Everyone concurred, but Jimmy was laughing all the way to the bank. He'd made the absolute most of being hired in as a jobber for Braun Strowman over the summer. A hasty, 'Any man with these 2 fists' promo later, and he was made. At least temporarily.

Ellsworth somehow traded taking chokeslams for Braun with working WWE Title bouts vs. AJ Styles over on SmackDown. It was a trippy rise for someone who was jokingly referred to as "Chin-ce McMahon" (due to his appearance and smaller-than-average jaw). James even bagged win over AJ (with Dean Ambrose's help) on the 11 October '16 edition of Smackers.

He was off to the races, but WWE fans were in on the joke. Anyone thinking it was cruel of the promotion to ridicule Ellsworth for his appearance should probably hear from the main man just how thrilled he was to be involved at all. James didn't actually mind that everyone was ribbing him - he was living the dream on WWE TV, and was perfectly cool with it all.

Later, he'd link up with Carmella and turn into the dorkiest dude going. Yes, even dorkier than he'd been when he was unconvincingly squaring up to WWE's top stars on the blue brand. It was all played for laughs, but it was definitely bizarre.

Nobody saw Ellsworth's explosion coming in 2016. Nobody.
