10 WWE Stars Who Came Out Of The Wilderness
2. Goldberg
How They Entered The Wilderness:
Never booked as the all conquering Bill-dozer of his WCW days, 2003/04's Goldberg looked to have started strong in his new company and defeated one of McMahon's pride and joys, The Rock, on his way into the establishment at Backlash.
Then the whole thing broke down.
Goldberg would eventually take a PPV pinfall to Triple H (twice) and by that point it was clear that WCW's destroyer wasn't keen on enduring this fudged up version of his character.
He would leave after his one year contract was up and the crowd weren't pleased, opting to hijack his last appearance vs. Brock Lesnar at 'Mania XX.
Goldberg would barely be mentioned in WWE for 12 whole years, when...
How They Came Out:
In 2016, Goldberg was announced as the 2K17 pre-order incentive and the whole of the wrestling world began to dream.
Would GOOOOOOLDBERG return?
Social media shots were fired between Lesnar and Goldie and the stage looked to be set for the unthinkable.
October brought those dreams into reality and out of the sports entertainment desert came a hulking killer who looked every bit as intense as he ever did.
Goldberg would blitz-squash Lesnar at Survivor Series , Kevin Owens at Fastlane (winning a Universal Title, no less) and Dolph Ziggler at SummerSlam upon his modern return to the ring.
It goes to show that creative knew how to book the man - it just took some time apart to realise it.
