11 Biggest Conclusions Drawn From WWE Night Of Champions 2015
Did we just see a PPV of the year contender?
The 2015 edition of WWE Night of Champions was an incredibly important event. With three title changes (IC, U.S and Divas) and a great main event, it will be a PPV that is looked back upon with reverence when assessing 2015’s best supershows.
From top to bottom, the card flowed well, and the matches and booking made sense in most cases. We saw an ageing legend turn back the clock, in what could be his last hurrah in a championship situation, other legends return to do battle with the stars of today, and a revolution get some much-needed momentum.
Furthermore, there were numerous surprises that occurred throughout the night. We learned Brock Lesnar will be returning sooner than expected, and that a certain mask-wearing demon is back for revenge (whether we like it or not).
On the wrestling side, Seth Rollins shined from the moment he entered the ring until the broadcast finished, and at last was provided an opportunity to showcase his individual excellence as a World Champion.
Several storylines were pushed forward, albeit cheaply in the case of the Tag Team Titles, and a few young stars were validated with the first championship gold of their WWE careers. So what were the most important conclusions drawn from this year’s Night Of Champions?
11. Kevin Owens' Greatness Is No Secret
Kevin Owens received one of the night’s loudest reactions in Houston when he walked out for his entrance. Tonight was the validation needed for Kevin Owens fans, and proof that the company believes in him. Following a stellar debut series against John Cena, Owens took his lumps over the summer, before being rebuilt on his road to the Intercontinental Title.
More than one time tonight, he termed himself to be what a real wrestler looks like, completely flipping that narrative on its head. For so long we’ve been told what a sports entertainer looks like, when it comes to someone like Randy Orton. To see Owens succeed in this environment is truly awesome.
At Night Of Champions, he finally won the prize that went along with him being a prizefighter. He and Ryback weaved in a nice story using the background of their characters, and real lives, with use of The Secret book, and Owens claimed his first championship on the main roster in the process.
While Ryback was a decent IC champion, he never got to take the belt to the next level due to his untimely staph infection. Owens won the championship like a heel, and gave this rivalry legs to grow. Let’s see them go at if for a few months.
