11. Kevin Owens' Greatness Is No Secret
Kevin Owens received one of the night’s loudest reactions in Houston when he walked out for his entrance. Tonight was the validation needed for Kevin Owens fans, and proof that the company believes in him. Following a stellar debut series against John Cena, Owens took his lumps over the summer, before being rebuilt on his road to the Intercontinental Title.
More than one time tonight, he termed himself to be what a real wrestler looks like, completely flipping that narrative on its head. For so long we’ve been told what a sports entertainer looks like, when it comes to someone like Randy Orton. To see Owens succeed in this environment is truly awesome.
At Night Of Champions, he finally won the prize that went along with him being a prizefighter. He and Ryback weaved in a nice story using the background of their characters, and real lives, with use of The Secret book, and Owens claimed his first championship on the main roster in the process.
While Ryback was a decent IC champion, he never got to take the belt to the next level due to his untimely staph infection. Owens won the championship like a heel, and gave this rivalry legs to grow. Let’s see them go at if for a few months.
