4. Sting’s WWE Debut Is Worth Waiting On

At least initially.

There was a time when it seemed like Sting would never grace WWE. He'd been a WCW stalwart from the late-80s right up until the promotion's demise in 2001, then he worked for everyone from the short-lived WWA to TNA. The Stinger settled with the latter, and he became one of the group's biggest stars before departing in 2014.

That's when the noise started. If you put your ear to the ground and listened closely, you could hear the rumbling: 'Sting's coming to WWE! Sting's coming to WWE!'. He certainly was. The icon worked some vignettes to promote WWE 2K15, then the outfit began selling Sting merchandise. Everyone waited with bated breath to see where this might lead.

Sting vs. The Undertaker? Nope. Sting becoming WWE Champion? Not quite. At the 2014 Survivor Series, he debuted to a thunderous reception and got right up in the face of The Authority's Triple H. That whole feud went south quickly, but man - for a brief second, everything ruled. The Stinger was finally on WWE soil a full 13 years after WCW bit the dust. It'd been some wait, but he was here.

Nothing else Sting-related matched the might of that intro. Arguably, the skit on Raw that saw him revealed as a replacement for the statue Trips and Stephanie McMahon had made for Seth Rollins worked, but excitement quickly faded once everyone realised that WWE had no clue how to book the legend properly.

Thank God for that debut then. It's still goosebumps inducing.
