11 Things You Didn't Know About WWE's Tatum Paxley
3. Paxley Wants Casket Matches To Be ‘Her Thing’
This is quite the bold admission.
Tatum Paxley worked the first ever women’s Casket Match vs. Wendy Choo on the 29 October 2024 episode of NXT. Both felt blessed to have that opportunity, but Tatum is still surprised to this day that it was the first one ever for the women’s division. Keep in mind that women only got Hell In A Cell in 2016, then a Royal Rumble in 2018, but Paxley is fairly new to wrestling so might not have known all that.
Going forwards, she’d love to make coffin bouts her thing in the division. Yep, like a female version of The Undertaker. Now he’s retired, it’s the perfect time. Tatum doesn't have a legend to ask for permission here (typical wrestling etiquette would suggest she should say something to 'The Deadman' and get his blessing), and she's already shown that she can rock the house in a Casket Match setting.
Besides, the gothic/macabre nature of the gimmick bout fits Paxley's on-screen presentation like a glove. Imagine the scenes if she was embroiled in a hot feud with someone else on television, then things reached the point that a blowoff Casket bout became the only reasonable option. That'd be an automatic pop, if handled correctly and used sparingly enough.
Brock Lesnar's retirement opens HIAC up for someone else. OK, so that was pretty much the case anyway, but WWE's announcers can still hammer that home regardless. Perhaps coffins are the same with Paxley post-Undertaker last ride? You never know.
