Failed experiment, but a worthwhile one?
A lot of wrestling fans, including the gent writing this piece, complain about the uniform look and feel to WWE programming. Despite introducing new sets for the return of crowds recently, both Raw and SmackDown still retain that "samey" aesthetic. That's why it genuinely sucks to rag on the company for trying something different.
WWE rolled into erm...Rolling Loud festival for segments from this week's SmackDown. They shot two matches in front of revellers, and the announcers hyped this as a huge deal. The bored faces staring at the stage suggested otherwise, but there were a few things you might've missed during those festival bits.
The non-wrestling fans who just wanted live music rebelled big time against women's wrestling. Elsewhere, John Cena did some shooting of his own on WWE as a whole, Roman Reigns discussed what he hates in the bedroom, and NXT got dissed yet again.
Other hidden gems included WWE missing a trick on Cena's 'World Title' push, fans repping AEW stars behind the commentary desk, blow up dolls (?!), more misery for poor Zelina Vega and Pat McAfee heeling on the party line.
