Barry Windham was a wrestler who had a promising career hampered by serious injuries that forced him to tone down his exciting in-ring style. His brother, Kendall, was not as remarkable a worker, but that didn't stop WCW from hiring him in 1997. Previously working for the NWA and Championship Wrestling (From) Florida, Kendall was a relatively baffling signing. He'd never been a big star, so it was difficult to see what he could add to World Championship Wrestling. Subsequently, fans didn't show much interest, at least not until he was part of an unintentionally popular stable. In 1999, 'The West Texas Rednecks' were formed as heels, largely to combat the 'No Limit Soldiers'. The problem was, WCW's predominantly Southern audience far preferred what Windham, Curt Hennig and company were doing. Suddenly, Kendall was a popular figure in the company for the first time. He'd even capture the WCW Tag-Team Titles with his brother, Barry in late-1999, defeating Harlem Heat to bag the gold. This came after WCW management decided to move away from the Rednecks vs. Soldiers idea, unhappy with the way it had panned out. Kendall left WCW shortly after, meaning his time in the sun was extremely short.
