25 Most OUT OF POCKET WWE Attitude Era Moments

14. Val Venis Takes The Long Way

Sean Morley is an unpleasant human being.

Sean Morley wasn’t a gifted pro wrestler; his biggest achievement was losing a Steel Cage match to Rikishi at Fully Loaded 2000. Even then, the match was only good for Rikishi’s insane splash from the top of the structure. The same effect would have been achieved if he had landed on Tiger Ali Singh or Kurrgan.

Val Venis, though, on very select occasions, was of decent value as a comedy performer.

He’s best remembered for the storyline in which, having shagged his wife, Yamaguchi-san threatened to lop off his member. It’s funny when people debate the intricacies of the Monday Night Wars. Did WCW really beat Goldberg too soon? Did Hulk Hogan exert far too much in the way of creative control? Or was the real problem that fans wanted to see a severed penis flop about a bit on the USA network?

Venis had some good lines that were always going to pop the favoured Attitude Era demographic, even if his adult movie parody names were disappointingly unimaginative. ‘Lust In Space’? Vince Russo could have done better than that, surely. What about Seven Inch Samurai? The Maltese Fatcock? Do The Tight Ring?

In his most out of pocket moment, a festive-feeling Venis got elaborate.

“For the next couple of days, this leg will be known as ‘Christmas’. This leg will be known as ‘New Year’s’. So ladies, why don’t you all come visit the Big Valbowski between the holidays?!”

Now that’s creative!
