25 Worst Wrestling Moments Of 2020

2. Goldberg Squashes The ‘Fiend’

The 'Fiend' was on a painful descent as a menacing character between Hell In A Cell 2019 and this nightmare over in Saudi Arabia for Super ShowDown 2020. The whole show was pretty rotten, but then came the main event. It was a headliner in name only, and it turned out to be the worst example of Goldberg squashing known to man.

In Riyadh, WWE made fans wait the whole night to see Goldberg flatten Bray Wyatt's alter ego and take his Universal Title in 3 minutes. Or, 3 minutes and 8 seconds to be precise. It was an insult to those who had purchased tickets, taken time out to watch Super ShowDown and committed to checking out WWE's weekly programming.

Approx 4 years earlier, Bill squashing Brock Lesnar had been huge news and felt like a real shot in the arm that the upper card mix needed, but Goldberg had worked some disasters since. An infamous match with The Undertaker had already trundled in front of Saudi wrestling fans, and now here he was putting Wyatt on the scrapheap as well.

The 'Fiend' didn't even really get to look competitive at all throughout this short title loss. Goldberg survived 2 different Mandible Claw spots before hitting the Jackhammer and posing with the belt. It was hardly what WWE needed on the road to WrestleMania 36, but they wanted to book Bill vs. Roman Reigns (which didn't happen in the end due to COVID concerns - Braun Strowman replaced Roman and beat Goldberg in the PC).

Bray's 'Fiend' had zero credibility after this kicking.
