25 Worst Wrestling Moments Of 2023

9. There's No Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland Pay Off

'Swerve In Our Glory' was a great success for AEW. An unlikely tag team when first put together, Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland found a natural chemistry with one another, and their tag title reign proved to be the launching pad for Swerve to become one of the biggest names in AEW and one of the hottest commodities in all of wrestling.

After their split at the end of 2022, Keith Lee didn't have such a happy ending

Strickland went on to form the Mogul Embassy, which attacked Lee, so fans could be forgiven for thinking there would be a pay off match in 2023. Despite Dave Meltzer suggesting that the plan was to have the duo face off at Double Or Nothing, they both just...ended up in the 21-man Battle Royal for Orange Cassidy's International Championship. There were also rumours that they would face at World's End, but Strickland defeated Dustin Rhodes there instead.

Whatever the reasons behind it, it's a crying shame that these 2 have never had a singles match to end their in-ring union. In interviews since, Strickland has said that it was merely a "creative decision" from AEW, but it's not one that has ever made a lot of sense.
