4. A Staple Of Taped Shows
There are certain tropes WWE loves to employ to fill time when they have a taped program. One of those favorites is the Teddy Long Special – starting a singles match that breaks down after a few minutes due to outside interference, and the GM makes it a tag team match (playa!) and restarts the action.
Dominik Mysterio was facing Je’Von Evans in a pretty pedestrian match that was rumbling toward a conclusion when JD McDonagh interfered in full view of the referee, triggering a disqualification. This brought Joe Hendry out of witness protection to make the save, and Raw GM Adam Pearce (who clearly needed a drink) ran out to scream and make it a tag match.
The bout resumed with more decent action, including an impressive Hendry double fallaway slam on Mysterio and McDonagh at the same time. But Judgment Day shenanigans allowed Dirty Dom to pin Hendry with a frogsplash.
And so ended a time-filler that was forgotten moments after the pin was counted.
