3. Contrasting Styles
It’s clear that Sol Ruca still has some noticeable holes in her game, but WWE is going to allow her to continue to develop on television each week, sending her out there to sink or swim.
Monday night, she battled Raquel Rodriguez for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship, and the two put on a pretty decent display of power versus acrobatics. Ruca’s punches looked weak, and some of her offense required Raquel to get in position, but her high-flying attacks landed. Sol nailed the Space Flying Tiger Drop, a move she’s botched somewhat regularly on the main roster.
Ruca also countered some of Rodriguez’s power and aggression nicely, dodging a charge in the ropes and quickly hooking a Tarantula, and dropping her with a sunset flip powerbomb to the floor.
Ultimately, the Judgment Day and Lyra Valkyria got involved, with Lyra blocking a Sol Snatcher, which allowed Raquel to immediately put Ruca away with a Tejana Bomb.
Call this a victory for Ruca as she really is just trying to string together matches where she isn’t whiffing on the moves that brought her to the dance. Raquel was game, making for an acceptable little television match.
