3 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (12 Oct - Results & Review)
3. Babyfaces Cheat To Send Pushed Monster To Another Loss
If you’re keeping score, Big Cass lost his third straight Raw match to a much smaller wrestler on Monday night, this time falling to Rey Mysterio… with an assist from fellow babyface Dragon Lee.
Cass’ return to WWE has to be labeled nothing short of an absolute failure to date, with his vignettes completely contradicting the character that he portrayed when he arrived back in the company, bullying smaller wrestlers. Claiming he was here to “stack bodies,” Cass spent a month attacking Je’Von Evans over and over, until Evans finally pinned him in a triple threat. Then Dragon beat Cass.
And Monday, Mysterio kept Cass off-balance with his usual anti-big man arsenal. The match itself was going fine, but then Dragon snuck down to ringside and kicked Cass, allowing Rey to set up a 619, followed by a victory roll for the (shock?) win. Really, it should be considered the norm since Cass hasn’t won in nearly two months.
This has to be repeated to make clear how awful this booking truly is: Cass is a naturally gifted performer who can be a highly entertaining heel (or babyface). He can bully while being cartoonish, and he proved this in AEW. Instead, WWE brought him in as Generic Big Heel #847, then proceeded to beat him repeatedly, thus negating any heat he might have generated.
As for Mysterio, yes, Cass was bullying him and attacked him and Dragon last week. But heroes are supposed to be virtuous, so why is cheating when the heel hasn’t done the same thing in the match acceptable? Spoiler: It’s not. It’s just dumb WWE booking in action again.
