WWE’s continuous obsession with celebrities has been a nuisance, at best, and created a WrestleMania main event-ruining disaster, at worst.
But Monday night, the market leader added “platforming people who promote racism and homophobia” to their resumé, giving plenty of camera time to boxer Ryan Garcia and even including him in a segment between the Judgment Day and Danhausen and Joe Hendry.
Garcia, who blasted Hendry with a guitar and aligned with Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh, has a well-documented history of firing off incredibly offensive slurs directed toward Black people, Muslims, and the LGBTQ+ community. While we won’t repeat or amplify those comments here, it was so bad that the World Boxing Council suspended him in July 2024; a ban that lasted for more than a year.
Controversial figures have always found their way onto television (and WWE Raw is far from the only program that has hosted Garcia), but including him in a segment featuring Danhausen, a character who in part appeals greatly to WWE’s younger fans, is quite the choice.
