4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Sept 9)

2. Two Debuts, Two Losses

The new generation of the Women's Division came two steps closer to completion last night, even if those steps were quite uncertain. The fans got a double dose of Australian grappling as Peyton Royce and Billie Kay made their official debuts. Being given new names and actual entrance music marks a significant step up for both ladies, who've been familiar faces on our screens for a while now as enhancement talent KC Cassidy and Jessie McKay, respectively. Unfortunately, despite this graduation, their days of jobbing don't seem to be behind them, both ladies coming up short in their first proper matches, Royce tapping out to Carmella, and Kay being pinned by Dana Brooke. Neither women got a chance to build the sort of victory momentum that Nia Jax is likely to receive when she finally arrives. A stumble for both Shimmer Women Athletes veterans, but fans shouldn't lose hope. They both acquitted themselves well last night, Royce showing off her educated feet and Kay cartwheeling around the ring, and their status as full roster members adds much-need depth to a recently-gutted division.
