4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Sept 9)

1. Was Bull-Fit All For Naught?

The Bull-Fit promos had a tendency to divide people. Some saw them as WWE smothering the last of Bull Dempsey's potential with eye-rolling slapstick, dooming him forever to the role of 'Comedy Wrestler'. Personally, I thought it was a worthy experiment. After all, the NXT audience is one of the most supportive crowds in wrestling and, as last night proved, were more than willing to embrace Bull for attempting something new, rather than furthering his throwback gimmick, which was growing increasingly stale. It seemed to be working. The fact that Bull-Fit sounds like Bull-S**t seemed to give the chanting crowd no end of pleasure, and being mismatched with a petulant Breeze seemed to be fertile ground for actual comedy. What a shame, therefore, that Dempsey ended up on the receiving end of not only being pinned for his team, but suffering a humiliating beatdown at the hands of his partner post-bell. Considering his size, the way he was dominated left the purveyors of Bull-Fitness looking exceptionally weak. It's possible that he and Breeze are about to enter a feud, which, if so, could stand to benefit both men, but after Bull has been the butt of NXT's jokes for well over a month, to see him on his back so soon after a character change is highly disheartening.
