5 Reasons Why Roman Reigns Won WWE Title On RAW

5. Vince Was Running Out Of Patience

Since Roman Reigns' WWE debut at Survivor Series 2012, it was clear WWE had big plans for him. Exactly how big the plans would be had yet to be revealed, but WWE's high expectations lead to strong booking for the former Shield member and, for the first 18 months, things were going well. Fans happily supported Reigns over Batista in the final minutes of 2014's Royal Rumble but before the year was over Reigns lost that support and a backlash against him resulted in WWE rushing his push and forcing the issue. Who would've guessed that corny dialogue, bad comedy, blue contact lenses, and booking the high school prom king as an underdog wasn't going to help get Reigns over with the audience? Apparently everybody except Vince McMahon. Vince's initial WrestleMania 31 plans of Roman becoming WWE Champion by defeating Brock Lesnar had to be changed because of the negative fan reaction, and Vince was not happy about it. Though the backlash slowly began to dissipate as 2015 came to a close, Vince was obviously running out of patience and wanted to get Roman over now. Vince finally decided to throw everything he had against the wall in order to get Reigns over. He booked a 24 hour blitz that involved his 13-time World Champion son-in-law, his venom-spewing daughter, and even Vince himself in order to get Roman Reigns cheered by the crowd. Vince hadn't been seen on TV in over a year and it was even longer ago that he had directly feuded with one of his talents, but he put an end to that on Monday night and made sure the whole world was able to see live on Monday night RAW. Clearly the actions of a man who was growing increasingly impatient and wanted to make a change ASAP.
