Roman's WWE Championship victory, along with the appearance of Vince McMahon, boosted ratings big time on the 12/14 Monday Night RAW. This had to make not only WWE happy, but the USA Network as well. In that regard, and at least for one night, it was mission: accomplished. The company had been struggling through a ratings crisis that saw record-tying lows mirror the company from 18 years ago. WWE seemed to be at a loss as at how to stop the rot and it became clear early on during RAW that Vince took it upon himself to turn things around. He decided to make an on-screen appearance and he wasn't going to waste it on just any angle or any superstar; he made sure that his involvement lead to the company's newest future winning the WWE Championship. Reigns' victory was wisely done in a way in which it didn't negate the importance of the TLC PPV the night before. The conclusion to the PPV was critical in the setup to RAW and Roman's title win. Without Triple H's and Vince's involvement, it's unlikely Roman would have been received the way he was on Monday night, especially in the city of Philadelphia, which played a big role in Vince's booking plans.
