4. Officially A Flop
Make no mistake: booking Dragon Lee to defeat Big Cass Monday night was the right call – with a caveat, which will be explained later.
Cass’ booking since returning to WWE has been a huge disappointment, a complete waste of his talent and abilities. Instead of utilizing his unique brand of humor and presence, WWE chose to book Cass as a generic big man who came back to stack BODY (singular, because he only seemed to attack Je’Von Evans for a month).
Dragon pinning Cass here is a good thing, but it still bears mentioning just how dismal WWE’s booking of the seven-footer has been. Cass has now been pinned by a much smaller wrestler in two of his three televised matches, both coming this month.
Why does this company hype up a big return, only to flub it so spectacularly, especially when they know exactly what and who they’re getting? It’s like putting a star outfielder behind the plate to catch, or a midfielder as a goalkeeper. It makes no sense, and now they’re just actively jobbing him out.
Maybe this will lead to a character shift, but if that’s the case, why didn’t they just book him properly from the jump?
