4. A Solid Match, Up Until THAT Moment
Give credit where it’s due to the Judgment Day for playing their stooge roles well Monday night.
JD McDonagh and Dominik Mysterio did their level best to be bastard heels against Penta and Je’Von Evans, and the four actually had a fun little match, with Evans’ babyface flurry on McDonagh looking especially crisp – his Red Dot appeared to catch JD flush in the mush.
The babyface miscommunication spot – with McDonagh shoving Penta into the path of an OG Cutter – was nicely done and could lead to some heat between the two Money in the Bank participants, or it could result in Penta getting “payback” during the match. Subtracting the Joe Hendry foolishness, this was perfectly acceptable wrestling.
Even the aftermath worked well, with Bron Breakker appearing to spear his two MITB match opponents and continue to position himself as the monster of the ladder match. He also needs to remain strong if he’s going to credibly fight Oba Femi again, so this served a dual purpose.
