7 New Directions For WWE After Saturday Night's Main Event (24 Jan)
7. Liv & Roxanne Eventually Getting Gold
Run this back, for crying out loud!
The latest SNME featured one of the best Women’s Tag-Team Titles matches ever. Some might suggest that isn't saying much for the often-overlooked division, but credit where it's due: WWE are getting everything on the money these days, and there are other challengers waiting in the wings for a crack at the gold; the division is seriously competitive and stacked with teams who actually feel like permanent teams, especially on SmackDown.
Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY don’t need to be losing those straps anytime soon (to Morgan and Perez, Kiana James and Giulia, or anyone else), but WWE must realise what they’ve got on their hands here. The chemistry between both squads over the weekend was insane, and now people will be clamouring for another round ASAP.
Liv and Roxanne worked perfectly as a duo, and the real-life friendship between RHIYO is clear for all to see. The quartet also cooked up a clever ref bump when Raquel Rodriguez ran in to trip Ripley from outside the ring and caused her to fall on the official. That was sensational and felt rather unique.
Overall, this was really good. If one's poking holes, there was a slight timing issue on Rhea’s near fall save towards the end, but that didn’t kill the buzz. Honestly, just a fabulous watch. A rematch is a must, and it'd be be WrestleMania worthy if both sides are on top form like they definitely were in Montreal.
Give us a sequel, please.
