5. Sami Zayn Is The Gingerbread Man

WWE.com

In theory, Sami Zayn revealing that he sneakily dressed up as the Gingerbread Man to ambush Lil Yachty and Trick Williams would've been played for giggles too, but one gets the impression that things are about to get real serious between Sami and Trick. They pulled off a double turn before and during WrestleMania 42, then put the United States Title on Williams to boot.

Speaking of boots, Zayn planted one in Trick's face with his Helluva Kick after revealing that he was wearing the mascot outfit all along. Mercifully, none of his gumdrop buttons fell off when he was performing the move. He didn't show off that he was wearing a thong either. Mind your business, Pinocchio. Anyone else want to rewatch Shrek after all of this?!

What a well-worked segment overall.

The promo Williams cut with Yachty made him look like a star, then his Gingerbread Man mascot attacked with the candy cane and it was revealed to be Zayn. No, that's not a sentence anyone thought they’d be typing, but here we are. WWE were always going to extend this feud to lean deeper into Sami's heel turn, and it worked a treat.

Fingers crossed that's now the end of the gingerbread stuff and they can get a lot more feisty, because Sami’s attack warrants anger from Trick rather than more mascot nonsense. They've done that, so draw a line under it and move onto a gimmick-based grudge match in time for Backlash. Also, give 'em more time than they got at 'Mania and everything will be just dandy.
