8 Amazing Wrestlers That Flopped In WCW

2. Jake Roberts

How Good He Was: Few understand pro wrestling psychology as well as Jake 'The Snake' Roberts. His hushed promo delivery style seldom exploded, which helped him stand out from ranting legends like Hulk Hogan, Warrior, Randy Savage etc. Inside the ring, Roberts knew the value of teasing his biggest moves, and he sold like a man possessed whether he was heel or babyface.

It should've been a massive loss to the WWF when Jake left in 1992 and turned up in WCW.

Why He Flopped: Sadly, it wasn't much of a loss to Vince McMahon at all. It certainly wasn't a huge get for WCW once Roberts turned out to huff and puff his way through a bitterly disappointing feud with main man Sting. If anything, resetting Jake's babyface status and letting him organically win over the WCW audience would've been for the best.

Nope, he was gonna have that darn 'Coal Miners Glove' match with the Stinger at Halloween Havoc '92 and that was that. That turned out to be Jake's only pay-per-view match for the company, which really sums up just how miserable a flop his run with WCW was.

Roberts was gone by early-1993, meaning his Atlanta run amounted to a sagging rivalry with Sting and not much more. To say he didn't show his best under the company banner would be a gross understatement. The glory days of this particular 'Snake' had clearly come and gone. It sucks to even type that when he's so beloved by millions of fans, but it's true.

WCW wasn't a neat fit for him.
