8 Gimmick Matches You'll NEVER See In WWE Again

4. Stairs Match

WWE has tasted success with tables and ladder scraps, and matches have been decided by chair shots for decades. So, if all of those have worked, why wouldn't a match where steel stairs are the only foreign object that are legal? It's sound in theory, but almost certainly rubbish in practice.

And so it came to pass at TLC 2014. Big Show and Erik Rowan went to war in WWE's first and only 'Stairs Match'. After a myriad of steps were used, a big pile of them got dumped by the entrance ramp that would later be used for Show to spear Rowan through. It's entirely conceivable that this one spot was the purpose of the entire match, but we digress.

Stairs are fun things to use in a match, but it was proven via this showcase that they should never be the primary focus of a contest. As gimmick PPVs like Hell In A Cell and TLC become less commonplace, it's impossible to imagine the current WWE regime resurrecting this dull match for any purpose whatsoever.
