7. Jon Moxley Goes Full Bob Holly

Jon Moxley deserves his spot in AEW, to make that immediately and emphatically clear. 

He has dedicated the best years of his professional life to building the distant #2 promotion when, at some point over the last few years, he could have easily asked for and received a WrestleMania Sunday main event just to stick it to them. He is responsible for countless iconic AEW moments. He’s also known as one of the good guys, a man with a sincere interest in developing younger wrestlers and spotlighting female talent, as opposed to just saying that because it sounds good. He saw something in Marina Shafir that nobody else did, and used his influence to enable her to show it. In some ways, he is the opposite of a self-serving carny. If he was only interested in doing his art for a few years before cashing in, he’d have done so by now. At the same time, he sure does like to win a lot, doesn’t he? 

Moxley’s motives aren’t entirely altruistic. He is basically the manifestation of Bob Holly’s fantasy booking for his own character, as told to the world by Bruce Prichard on his ‘Something To Wrestle’ podcast.

Jon Moxley absolutely loves to beat people in matches every single week and, at time of writing, tops the leaderboard for wins in 2026. He’s a clean-winning heel super badass! What’s so difficult to grasp about that character?! 

Half of these matches aren’t even that good, and even fewer are strictly necessary with such a loaded, aimless roster struggling for meaningful TV time. He’ll double bird-flip Komander and drill him right on top of his head, to remind you how great he can be, but come on. His time limit-draw-leads-to-PPV-rematch trick means he’s in that ring more than ever as Continental champion..
