8 Times WWE's Triple H Was A DISASTER-TIER Booker

The absolute WORST of Triple H's WWE booking.

By Terry Bezer /

After the disastrous final few years of Vince McMahon's outdated booking found WWE out of touch with their audience and the average pro wrestling fan, Paul Levesque taking over as the head of creative saw the company's fortunes turn around massively. Well, at least in the short term. Since that initial honeymoon period, people have felt more critical of Triple H, and his booking has been shown to have some major failings.

As a community with wildly differing tastes and desires, it is an unenviable job to keep the majority of wrestling fans happy in the modern age. Even bearing that in mind, though, there have been some bizarre and disappointing moments in WWE in recent times that have had fans sharpening their knives for Hunter and his questionable decision-making.

After coming off the back of a particularly divisive 2025, the following booking decisions are tough to defend, even for the most ardent fans of WWE and Levesque. Triple H has the pencil in the world's biggest wrestling promotion, and there can be no hiding place when things go badly, with these being his worst booking decisions to date.

8. Bringing Back Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar's return at SummerSlam 2025 was one of the most shocking moments of the year. It takes a lot to unite wrestling's polarized global fanbase, but this decision was met with universal disapproval. Not only is Lesnar named multiple times in Janel Grant's ongoing lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE, but it's also a fact that Brock's work in WWE has been lacking for what seems like an eternity.

Formerly one of the biggest box office draws in wrestling, Brock Lesnar hasn't had a great feud or match in years. The decision to bring him back was bad, but Triple H's creative for Brock in 2025 did enormous further harm to his already wavering reputation. Lesnar destroyed John Cena at WrestlePalooza, presumably to have a more sports-based superstar looking strong on the company's first ESPN broadcast.

This only succeeded in pissing off WWE's fanbase. If the idea is to have Lesnar look strong to elevate up-and-coming talent in 2026, defeating an aging John Cena did not achieve that. It's hard to imagine anything Brock Lesnar-related pleasing WWE fans moving forward, and this whole debacle feels misguided at best, and legitimately damages the idea that this is a new WWE in the post-Vince McMahon era, at worst.
