8 Ways Triple H’s WWE Is JUST LIKE Vince McMahon’s
2. The Tag Team Division Is Now A Total Afterthought
At time of writing - October 20, 2026 - Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga are the WWE Tag Team Champions. They have held the belts for 67 days. Throughout that time, they have defended the titles on television once.
The World Tag Team Champions are Bron Breakker and Austin Theory. They have held the belts for 103 days. Throughout that time, they have defended the titles on television zero times.
With the arguable exceptions of Fatal Influence and Tatum Paxley and Alexa Bliss, not one team in either division is particularly over, as evidenced by the ants pissing on cotton every time the likes of Shinsuke Nakamura and KYOKI make their entrance. Bron Breakker is over, but, underscoring the wider point, he has outgrown the title, and his popularity has precisely nothing to do with the fact that he holds it. If anything, he is taken seriously in spite of a championship reign that for all intents and purposes is not actually happening.
There is no actual division on Raw. There is an excellent team on SmackDown. That team is Fraxiom. Fraxiom have not wrestled a tag team match on SmackDown since July 17.
These are not opinions or insights crafted to form a persuasive argument. These are facts.
WWE has promoted the Women’s Tag Team titles with a bit more conviction, but match quality has peaked at “passable”; otherwise, 2026 was defined by botchy disasters involving the Irresistible Forces and Brie Bella and Paige. They were sent out to die on a weekly basis because Triple H does not care.
Triple H cares as much about tag team wrestling as Vince McMahon did. It doesn’t matter that Triple H once booked a thriving tag team division in NXT, launching the careers of Chad Gable and FTR. That was 10 years, 120 months, 521 weeks, and 3,652 days ago.
In 2026, Triple H cares as much about tag team wrestling as Vince McMahon did.
